Wow! It certainly has been a long time since I've updated the blog. Sigh. I just can't seem to sit down and write anything that captures my interest for more than 10 minutes. :)
This week was particularly exciting. We filmed a special for PBS that will air this summer (in July), nationwide. Joyce DiDonato was our soloist...or rather we were her accompaniment! The special is mainly about her, and the new Kaufmann Center, and we happened to play REALLY awesome music, and play it REALLY well! There haven't been too many days that I am excited to go into work, and this was definitely one of them. It was a privilege to play with Joyce, and for the broadcast.
There were a few different things about this series of concerts. First, the cameras were following us all week, during the rehearsal, during the backstage parts, etc. Then, they filmed all three performances...SO our makeup, jewelry, clothes, socks, shoes, etc. had to be EXACTLY, PRECISELY, THE SAME for all three concerts. PBS even provided a makeup artist for those who didn't want to do their own makeup! It was crazy busy, and crazy fun. Joyce was an inspiration to all of us, and made me almost cry in with such beautiful nuances in her voice.
Gotta get off to bed! Second violin auditions tomorrow!
